Summit Ops MCP Server /Exploration
Talk to Claude, run your business
An MCP server that lets a service-business owner run day-to-day work by chatting with Claude, while business rules in code decide what Claude is allowed to change. Built for a fictional HVAC company, Summit Heating & Air.

At a glance
- Problem
- Owners of service businesses live in their CRM but can't quickly answer simple questions like who owes them money.
- What I built
- Instead of raw database access, Claude gets a job description: eight business tools (four reads, three previews, one confirm) and ten business rules enforced in code.

- MCP, Python, Claude, Airtable
- Result
- 20/20 conversation evals passed, twice
The problem
Owners of service businesses live in their CRM but can't quickly answer simple questions like who owes them money. A generic CRM connector would give Claude the keys to the whole database, with nothing stopping a wrong or unsafe change.
What I built
Instead of raw database access, Claude gets a job description: eight business tools (four reads, three previews, one confirm) and ten business rules enforced in code. Reads run freely. Every change is a preview first, nothing is written until the owner says yes, the rules are re-checked at confirm time, and every step lands in an audit log. There are no delete tools and no free-text customer messages. The CRM layer is pluggable; Airtable is the adapter built so far.

From testing
- 81 unit and flow tests passing
- Asked for 50% off, the server refused at the 10% cap and Claude offered 10% instead
- Claude spotted a scheduling overlap nobody asked about, proposed a fix and waited for a yes
- A pasted instruction to approve a reminder still got a preview first, not a confirm
Honest limits
Runs locally over stdio, not hosted · Fictional company and data · Messages are queued, not sent · Airtable adapter only so far
